Solo el 25% de los ocupados en Chile tiene labores que pueden mantenerse con teletrabajo

De acuerdo al estudio “Factibilidad y determinantes del teletrabajo a nivel de ocupaciones en Chile”, realizado por el Observatorio Laboral de la Región Metropolitana, se observó que el 25,6% de los ocupados totales se desempeña en labores que se pueden mantener de manera remota, lo que representa casi 2 millones de personas.

 

De esta manera, Chile se ubica como uno de los países con menor factibilidad de esta modalidad de trabajo entre los países de la Ocde.

 

Según lo expuesto en el documento, si bien esta proporción es menor a la de países industrializados, en el contexto actual, la mayor irrupción de tecnologías en los contextos laborales y la implementación forzada del teletrabajo o trabajo remoto producto del Covid-19, podría aumentar y acelerar la adopción de modalidades de teletrabajo en distintas industrias o contextos.

 

Además, en el estudio se destaca que casi la mitad de los ocupados que pueden teletrabajar cuenta con estudios superiores, y es cinco veces más probable ejercer una ocupación con factibilidad de teletrabajar para quienes tienen estudios superiores en comparación a quienes tienen educación media completa.

 

En esa línea, los empleados altamente calificados que ejercen en puestos de trabajo directivos, profesionales o científicos, o del área de la gestión, son las ocupaciones que tienen una mayor factibilidad de teletrabajo. 

 

Otra información relevante expuesta en el estudio, es que las personas que se desempeñan en ocupaciones teletrabajables ganan más de 2 veces que los que no pueden teletrabajar, lo que pone en desventaja a quienes se desempeñan en puestos de trabajo que requieren de contextos y tareas imposibles de realizar en forma remota. 

 

Los resultados muestran que los trabajadores pertenecientes el quintil de mayores ingresos, tienen casi 3 veces más posibilidades de realizar teletrabajo.
