Ventas del comercio minorista: agosto anota primera alza mensual tras inicio de crisis sanitaria

El Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas (INE) informó este miércoles 30 de septiembre que el Índice de Actividad del Comercio al por Menor a precios constantes aumentó 2,8% en doce meses. La última vez que este indicador había anotado un alza fue en febrero de este año, un mes antes desde que comenzaran las cuarentenas en algunas comunas del país a causa del Covid-19.
De este modo, en lo que va del año las ventas acumularon un descenso de 13,8%, mientras que la serie desestacionalizada y corregida de efecto calendario, anotó un aumento mensual de 28,9% y un alza de 2,5% en doce meses.
Además, el índice general de actividad del comercio que incluye al mayorista, creció inesperadamente 1,3% en doce meses, acumulando un descenso de 9,9% al octavo mes del año. Cabe consignar que agosto estuvo marcado por los recursos que recibieron las personas que solicitaron el 10% de sus fondos previsionales.
De esta forma, las líneas de productos que más contribuyeron al incremento del índice fueron productos electrónicos; materiales para la construcción; y alimentos, con alzas de 72,4%, 34,7% y 7,4%, respectivamente. Mientras que el Índice de Ventas de Supermercados a precios constantes presentó un alza de 18,2%, acumulando una variación de 2,3% al octavo mes del año.
La Cámara Nacional de Comercio (CNC) ya había reportado durante el lunes recién pasado cifras de recuperación en el sector, ya que durante el mes de agosto las ventas presenciales en la Región Metropolitana registraron un descenso de 20,8% real anual, significativamente menor a la fuerte baja de 43,6% evidenciada en julio.
El INE reportó además que el Índice de Producción Industrial (IPI) decreció 4,8% en doce meses, debido a las incidencias negativas de los tres sectores que lo componen, cifra que se ubicó por sobre lo que esperaba el consenso del mercado.
