Banco Mundial eleva la proyección del crecimiento de Chile a 5,5%

El Banco Mundial publicó recientemente un reporte llamado “Volver a Crecer”, que estima un panorama mucho más positivo para la región frente a los daños que ha causado el Covid-19 tanto en salud como en economía, donde el organismo apuesta por un crecimiento económico de 4,4% frente al 4% del año pasado.
El organismo sitúa a nuestro país por sobre las estimaciones de países vecinos, contemplando que el PIB local se expanda 5,5% en 2021, por sobre el 4,2% pronosticado anteriormente.
En cuanto a las razones para confiar en esta estimación, la entidad establece tres factores, siendo el primero “la rápida recuperación del este de Asia, y de China en particular, la mayoría de los precios de las materias primas son ahora más altos que antes de la crisis del Covid-19″.
También indican que las remesas de la región superan los niveles que había previo a la pandemia. “Esto es alentador, dada su enorme importancia para el nivel de vida en varios países de la cuenca del Caribe y de América Central”, indica el reporte.
El tercer factor apunta al “acceso continuo a los mercados de capital internacionales por parte de la mayoría de los países de la región”, precisando que “los préstamos en el exterior aumentaron durante la pandemia, lo que contribuyó a políticas económicas de apoyo a pesar del espacio fiscal limitado”.
Martín Rama, economista en jefe del Banco Mundial para la región de América Latina y el Caribe se refiere al asunto, señalando que “a medida que las economías repuntan este año, algunos sectores y empresas ganarán y otros perderán”. Esta estimación surge bajo las consecuencias destructivas que ha tenido la pandemia, la que podría dar lugar a un crecimiento más acelerado.
