De acuerdo a los datos dados a conocer este lunes 1 de marzo por el Banco Central, el Índice Mensual de Actividad Económica (Imacec) registró una caída de 3,1% en enero frente a igual mes del 2020. De esta manera, la baja fue mayor a lo pronosticado por los analistas, que esperaban un descenso promedio de 1,4%, según un sondeo de Bloomberg. Adicionalmente, el dato fue más débil que el descenso de 0,4% que tuvo el Imacec en diciembre.
Desde el instituto emisor indicaron que “el resultado del Imacec fue explicado por la caída de las actividades de servicios y la producción de bienes, efecto que fue parcialmente compensado por el dinamismo del comercio”.
Por su parte, el ministro de Hacienda, Rodrigo Cerca, sostuvo que el gobierno seguirá trabajando para revertir el difícil escenario. “El retroceso de un 3,1% en la actividad económica que muestra el Imacec de enero, da cuenta de los enormes desafíos que tiene el país para el 2021”.
En esa línea, Cerda señaló que “vamos a seguir trabajando con más fuerza, para que en el resto del año podamos crecer con energía y recuperar los empleos perdidos”.
