Lluvias en zona centro afectan cultivos de fruta hasta en un 60%

De acuerdo a lo comentado por el presidente de Fedefruta, Jorge Valenzuela, las fuertes lluvias registradas durante los últimos días de enero representaron  “una catástrofe desde el punto de vista frutícola y agrícola”, y explicó que en muchos cultivos el daño está entre el 50% y 60%.

 

En ese escenario, Valenzuela precisó que uno de los cultivos más afectados fue la uva de mesa, y que entre la V y VI región hay unas 25.000 hectáreas afectadas, con ya un 50% de la producción afectada, y hay que esperar a “ver cómo avanza” la cosecha. Además, los cultivos como duraznos, ciruelos y arándanos más hacia el sur también están afectados.

 

En tanto,  Arturo Guerrero, dirigente de la Vega Central, señaló que los efectos de la lluvia podrían verse desde la primera semana de febrero, pues hay varios productos en cosecha. Así, estimó que los valores podrían trepar 10%, pero eso podría normalizarse en pocos días.

 

Por otra parte, el Presidente de la Asociación de Exportadores de Frutas de Chile AG (ASOEX), Ronald Bown Fernández, explicó que “hemos recibido nuevos reportes de partiduras en arándanos de zonas más tardías, especialmente en las variedades Brightwell y Ochlockonee, mientras que en la variedad Last Call, la situación está en evaluación. No obstante, los daños observados hasta ahora afectarán el volumen de producción y exportación de esta temporada 2020-2021”.

 

En cuanto a la situación de la uva de mesa, Bown, indicó que “hay cultivos muy dañados, no sólo con partiduras que ya son evidentes, sino que también por la caída de cuarteles de parronales debido al peso del agua. En la variedad Thompson ya se están mostrando evidencias del “mal de media luna” o “mal de la uña”, asociado a un hongo que pudre el grano y perjudica cualquier intento de comercializar la fruta”, añadió.

 

Adicionalmente, el Presidente de ASOEX, agregó que “en el caso de los carozos, especialmente duraznos y ciruelas, también hay pérdida de fruta, ya sea por partición o posibles pudriciones”.
