Imacec del 2020 registró contracción de 5,8% y es su peor resultado desde 1982

De acuerdo al Banco Central (BC), el Índice Mensual de Actividad Económica (Imacec) sufrió una caída de 0,4% durante el mes de diciembre y terminó el año con contracciones en nueve de sus doce meses.  De esta manera, la economía chilena cerró el traumático 2020 marcado por la crisis sanitaria con una contracción de 5,87%, lo que supone su peor resultado desde 1982, cuando la actividad se derrumbó un 11%.

 

En tanto, la serie desestacionalizada, aumentó 3,5% respecto del mes precedente y disminuyó 0,3% en doce meses.

 

Sin embargo, tras conocerse los índices sectoriales el viernes pasado (29 de enero), los analistas habían previsto una contracción del imacec entre -1,1% y -4,4%, por lo que esta caída es considerablemente menor a lo que esperaban.

 

El BC dijo que el resultado fue explicado por la caída de las actividades de servicios (-2,1%) y la minería (-9,2%), efecto que no logró ser compensado por el dinamismo del comercio, que se expandió a un ritmo de 10,8%.

 

Por su parte, el crecimiento del Imacec desestacionalizado fue impulsado por el desempeño de los servicios, compensado en parte por la minería.
