INE: agosto registró 12,9% de desempleo, su primer retroceso mensual desde inicios de la pandemia

Según los resultados de la Encuesta Nacional de Empleo del Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas (INE), publicados este miércoles 30 de septiembre, las cifras de desempleo del trimestre móvil que comprende los meses de junio, julio y agosto de 2020 llegó al 12,9%, correspondiendo a un incremento de 5,3 puntos porcentuales en doce meses y marcando el primer retroceso mensual desde inicios de la pandemia

 

No obstante, el número también representa una leve baja de 0,2 pp respecto al trimestre anterior (mayo-junio-julio), cuando la desocupación anotó un 13,1%. Siendo además la primera baja mensual que se registra en ese indicador desde noviembre pasado. Esto también se traduce en un aumento de 119 mil nuevos empleos entre el trimestre terminado en julio con el de agosto.

 

En tanto,  los ocupados en junio-agosto cayeron 19,4% en 12 meses, una baja muy relevante ya que significa que en el último año se han perdido 1.785.000 empleos, pero menor a la registrada en julio, cuando llegó a un récord de 20,6%.

 

A su vez, el INE informó que la reducción de los ocupados fue influida por comercio (-22,0%), construcción (-34,9%), agricultura y pesca (-34,3%) y alojamiento y servicio de comidas (-45,2%), en tanto que por categoría ocupacional los principales retrocesos se observaron en los trabajadores por cuenta propia (-32,1%) y en los asalariados formales (-11,0%).

 

En el detalle por sexo, por tercer período consecutivo en la serie, la tasa de desocupación de hombres (13,5%) es mayor a la de mujeres (12,1%).

 

Respecto a la fuerza de trabajo, hubo una caída en 12 meses de 14,5%, lo que también es una baja menor a la del trimestre móvil anterior, cuando llegó a 15,6%.

 

Con todo, de la cantidad de personas que han dejado sus trabajos desde marzo de este año, el 65,4% expresó algún motivo que se vincula a la pandemia del COVID–19.

 

Por su parte, en la Región Metropolitana la tasa de desocupación del trimestre junio-agosto de 2020 alcanzó 13,6%, registrando el valor más alto desde 2010, aumentando 5,4 puntos porcentuales en doce meses producto de la baja de 13,4% de la fuerza de trabajo, inferior en magnitud a la variación negativa registrada por los ocupados (-18,4%).
