¿Es posible el compromiso a distancia?

No es común estar trabajando desde casa y a la vez experimentando nuestra vida diaria, es por eso que debemos tener una o dos veces por semana una actividad planificada, la cual requiera más silencio y tranquilidad. Estamos experimentando una inversión de prácticas, nos vemos 100% en casa junto a la familia, con hijos estudiando en línea, y, a veces, sin la infraestructura de apoyo que solíamos tener en nuestros hogares.
 
 
Una vez pasado el «susto», los profesionales están aprendiendo a vivir esta nueva normalidad. Pero, sin lugar a dudas, la «versión pandémica» del teletrabajo aún presenta desafíos. Si la empresa puede ayudar a sus empleados a sentirse seguros y confiados, el rendimiento aumenta. Para un mayor compromiso a distancia en este momento, es necesario tener en cuenta 4 pilares: humanidad, tecnología, gerente y empleado.
 
 
El sentido de la humanidad es fundamental. Hay que tener comprensión, especialmente de gestión, para las personas que tienen más o menos dificultades para trabajar desde la casa. Hay que llevar la salud mental a la agenda y aceptar que la productividad no será la misma todos los días. También comprender y demostrar que no hay ningún problema cuando en medio de una reunión aparece un niño, un perro que ladre, etc. Estamos en un momento de adversidad, que está poniendo a prueba los protocolos tradicionales, es esencial ofrecer un espacio de confianza para que estos temas se hablen explícitamente.
 
El segundo pilar es la tecnología misma.
 
 Para trabajar bien desde casa es necesario tener una computadora, tal vez un teléfono celular corporativo, una buena conexión a Internet, un espacio reservado y, si es posible, acceso remoto a los sistemas y herramientas de la compañía. Todos los recursos que le permiten hablar con colegas e interactuar bien a distancia. La tecnología puede facilitar el compromiso entre pares y diferentes niveles jerárquicos, y debe usarse para ese propósito.
 
 
El rol del gerente tiene una gran responsabilidad con el clima organizacional y el compromiso, ya que representa a la empresa. Cuando las personas dicen que están satisfechas o no con la organización en la que trabajan, a menudo se refieren a su jefatura. Pero el trabajo remoto también tomó a los gerentes por sorpresa. El liderazgo comparte los desafíos mencionados anteriormente, y todavía se enfrentan a nuevos desafíos comerciales, situaciones imprevistas y con una responsabilidad diferente en la gestión de sus equipos.
 
 
Es hora de escuchar y entender el contexto del otro. Aprender a gestionar las expectativas de las personas para que fluya el compromiso mutuo. La gente no está en la oficina, donde el gerente se sienta al lado de su equipo. En esta forma remota, las reuniones periódicas deben colaborar para informar y también para fortalecer la relación, compensar la falta de interacción cara a cara, además de promover la alineación de actividades, entregas y expectativas.
 
 
En esta tarea, debemos estar disponibles, responder a consultas, proporcionar respuestas y estar abiertos a discutir con el gerente sobre el trabajo u otros asuntos. Si tenemos problemas personales que pueden afectar las entregas, debemos indicar que nuestro rendimiento o disponibilidad se verán afectados. La confidencialidad de los asuntos personales se puede preservar de acuerdo con la orientación de cada persona, pero el aviso de disponibilidad debe ser claro y evitar tomar por sorpresa a la organización.
 
 
La situación actual es transitoria. Trae desafíos, pero también aprendizajes. Acelerará algunas prácticas que aún no se habían implementado en el mercado, como la administración de horarios flexibles, códigos de vestimenta, una mayor comprensión de las personalidades y perfiles. La diversidad presupone la comprensión de que las personas son diferentes. Cada profesional tiene su contexto familiar, estructura y apoyo. Las empresas deben ser receptivas e inclusivas a estas diferencias. Cuando cada una de estas personas se sienta segura de quiénes son, generará compromiso.
