Desempleados en el Gran Santiago superan los 430 mil y ocupados sufren mayor caída en casi cuatro décadas

Según la Encuesta de Ocupación y Desocupación elaborada por el Centro Microdatos de la Universidad de Chile, realizada entre el 1 y 28 de julio de este año a 5.857 personas de 1.867 hogares, la tasa de desempleo en el Gran Santiago fue de 14,1%, lo que equivale a 436.308 hombres y mujeres desocupadas, revelando una preocupante caída en la fuerza laboral.

 

De esta forma, se representa un alza de 5,7 pp en doce meses, pero una disminución de 1,5 pp respecto a marzo pasado (15,6%). Históricamente este dato se sitúa por sobre el promedio de los últimos 20 años (9,5%) y después del de marzo pasado, se inscribe como el segundo peor registro en los últimos 34 años.

 

La directora ejecutiva de Microdatos, Lorena Flores, advirtió que la disminución respecto a marzo no debe verse como algo positivo o un punto de partida hacia un cambio de tendencia, ya que los “desalentados” no son considerados en estos indicadores. “La gente ha estado perdiendo el empleo, pero en vez de buscar, sale del mercado laboral. A eso es a lo que nosotros llamamos un desalentado”, puntualizó.

 

De igual manera, la ministra del Trabajo, María José Zaldívar, se mostró preocupada ante estas cifras, señalando que “si hacemos un análisis de todas aquellas personas que están desempleadas y de quienes estando sin trabajo no están buscando uno (fuerza laboral), tenemos una cifra que es muy preocupante, y es en la que debemos enfocarnos, debemos buscar mecanismos para recuperar el empleo”.

 

En cuanto a la apertura progresiva de ciertos sectores, la titular de Trabajo indicó que “la situación sanitaria ha estado cambiando paulatinamente, tenemos lugares en nuestro país en donde sí se puede ir dando la reactivación de algunas actividades productivas”. Sin embargo, agregó que se debe “mirar muy de cerca los indicadores sanitarios para a partir de allí tomar decisiones”.
