Gobierno extendió cuarentena por cuarta semana consecutiva en la Región Metropolitana

Ante el elevado número de contagios y víctimas fatales a causa del Covid-19 en el país, el Gobierno anunció que a partir de las 22:00 horas de este viernes 5 de junio se extiende la cuarentena obligatoria para las 38 comunas de la Región Metropolitana, al menos hasta el próximo viernes 12 de junio, confinamiento obligatorio que también regirá por una semana más en las comunas de Iquique, Alto Hospicio. En tanto, la medida se levantará en y Lonquimay.
Con esta extensión de cuarentena por siete días, la capital chilena estará por cuarta semana consecutiva bajo este régimen de aislamiento para evitar la propagación del coronavirus. La medida, mantiene confinados a cerca de 7 millones de personas y había sido descartada durante semanas por el Gobierno, que optó inicialmente por aislar los barrios con más contagios.
«Hasta ahora la movilidad en la Región Metropolitana se ha reducido solo en un 30% respecto a niveles habituales. Hay mucha gente que vulnera el toque de queda», aseguró en la rueda de prensa el Ministro de Salud, Jaime Mañalich.
El aumento de casos nuevos en Chile se ha cuadruplicado desde principios de mayo a cerca de 4.000 diariamente, en un brote del contagio por coronavirus que llega hasta este jueves 4 de junio a los 118.292 contagiados y 1.356 fallecidos. Esto posiciona a nuestro país en una de las 15 naciones más afectadas del mundo hasta el momento.
La secretario de Estado también hizo un llamado a la ciudadanía a “respetar la cuarentena y a la corresponsabilidad. Cuando el vecino hace algo que no es correcto, tiene repercusión en mi persona. La falta de responsabilidad de todos con todos, sin uno no hay todos, y eso significa que la presión sobre nuestro sistema asistencial va a ser intensa. Necesitamos hacer comprender que estas medidas tienen que ir acompañadas de una mayor colaboración de la comunidad”.
De todas las comunas, la de Santiago es la que por más tiempo ha permanecido en cuarentena en todo el país. El jueves 26 de marzo lideró a las primeras zonas del territorio nacional que entraron en aislamiento y, cuando el 12 de junio concluya el megaconfinamiento ordenado por las autoridades, registrará 79 días en este régimen. La cifra superará incluso a la de la ciudad de Wuhan, en China, lugar donde surgió la pandemia que ha afectado a más de 6 millones de personas por todo el mundo.
