Historia del Carmenere
La importancia del cultivo de la cepa Carmenere en Chile se remota a fines del siglo XIX, cuando esta vid se creyó extinta en Francia tras una epidemia que destruyó gran parte de los ejemplares en toda Europa. Tras este episodio, no volvió a escucharse sobre esta cepa durante varias décadas.
Nadie sabe a ciencia cierta cómo esta vid arribo a tierras chilenas, pero la teoría señala que se trajo desde Burdeos para la creación de nuevas viñas durante el siglo XIX.
El gran reencuentro entre Francia y este vino perdido se produjo en 1994, cuando el enólogo francés Jean Michel Boursiquot de la Universidad de Montpellier visitó un congreso latinoamericano, donde Chile presentó un vino que incluía esta cepa, y que formaba parte de los ensamblajes más representativos de los portafolios de los vinos nacionales.
La gran fiesta del Carmenere
Celebremos este 24 de noviembre el día del Carmenere con una copa del mejor vino de esta categoría combinándolo con carnes de caza, acompañadas con salsas agridulces y frutos rojos, además de ser un acompañamiento perfecto para platos vegetarianos.
